Ariella Cohen is the assistant managing editor for news at The Philadelphia Inquirer. In 2022, she served as deputy editor under Errin Haines for the newspaper's year-long More Perfect Union series examining the Philadelphia roots of systemic racism in America. Prior to joining The Inquirer, she led a local news team at WHYY, Philly's NPR affiliate. Ariella jumped into local news in Philadelphia after co-founding The Lens, a nonprofit newsroom in New Orleans and serving as a top editor for Next City, which covers cities around the world through the lens of solutions. Ariella began her career as a local reporter in Brooklyn and still misses the dopamine hit of seeing her reporting picked up by a blog.
