Jessica Beard, MD, MPH is a trauma surgeon and public health researcher at Temple University in North Philadelphia. She is also a Stoneleigh Foundation Fellow and Director of Research for The Philadelphia Center for Gun Violence Reporting. Her research focuses on identifying and quantifying harmful reporting on community firearm violence and understanding the perspectives of firearm-injured people on media reporting on firearm violence. She is passionate about firearm violnce prevention and working with journalists and community to advance the most ethical, empathetic and impactful reporting on firearm violence possible in Philadelphia and beyond.
