Krista Lewis joined the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) as its Director of Development in 2023. In this role, she works directly with the Executive Director to lead the IWMF’s efforts to garner support from foundations, individuals, and corporations.
A seasoned fundraiser, Krista has had the privilege of working with many wonderful nonprofits over the last 25 years. She places a high priority on making a positive impact through her work and has a passion for establishing new partnerships and discovering innovative and creative ways to collaborate across agencies and fields.
Prior to joining the IWMF, Krista was the Director of Philanthropy for Jefferson Center for Mental Health, a nonprofit community mental health care and substance use services provider based in Colorado. Her almost decade-long affiliation with Jefferson Center solidified a commitment to building awareness of the importance of equitable access to mental health. She is thrilled to continue this important work as a member of the IWMF team, whose focus is on serving the holistic needs of courageous women and nonbinary journos, including promoting and protecting their safety and mental wellbeing. Krista is also a certified instructor in Mental Health First Aid and has trained hundreds of community members in this national program since 2017.
Krista earned a BFA in Theatre at the University of Colorado in Boulder and remains a proud supporter of arts and culture in her community of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She also enjoys traveling, singing, cooking, and spending much of her time in nature—walking, hiking, and meditating in the Land of Enchantment.
