Laura Krantz is the subscriber products editor at The Chronicle of Higher Education. For more than 10 years she worked as a reporter covering local, regional and national news at the MetroWest Daily News, VTDigger and the Boston Globe. With her colleagues in the Globe’s Washington, D.C. bureau, she shared the 2020 Toner Prize for Excellence in National Political Reporting from Syracuse University's Newhouse School.
Increasingly fascinated by the question of whether the journalism we produce meets the needs of our community, she has pivoted into the world of news product and audience strategy. At The Chronicle she works on cross-functional teams to develop editorial strategies that drive engagement and subscriptions.
Laura is also the advising editor for the Mass Media, the student newspaper of UMass Boston, and one of the creators of the mentorship program of the New England First Amendment Coalition.
She is also a member of the 2023 cohort of the Executive Program in News Innovation and Leadership at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York. If she’s not in a newsroom, she’s probably walking dogs.
