Marie Gilot is the Executive Director of J+, the professional training arm of the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, home of the Executive Program in News Innovation and Leadership and other programs. J+ empowers journalists and media professionals in all phases of their career, focusing on the business side of news, better leadership and product thinking. Marie started her career as a newspaper reporter in El Paso, Texas, covering the U.S.-Mexico border and was a program officer at the Knight Foundation in Miami. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the City College of New York and master’s degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso and Princeton University, as well as a certificate in climate change from the University of Pennsylvania. Since the pandemic, she does her own nails.
