Jarrad Henderson is a four-time Emmy award-winning journalist, entrepreneur, and educator who has produced impactful storytelling in large newsrooms, including the Detroit Free Press and USA Today, for over a decade.
An innovative creator passionate about problem-solving, Jarrad has established himself as a respected industry leader who seeks to democratize journalism by empowering diverse voices to share their stories. His previous leadership experience includes serving on the National Association of Black Journalists Board of Directors, judge for the Hearst Journalism Awards, and as a past member of the Filmmaker Development Council for the Video Consortium. Jarrad is a 2023-2024 Artist in Residence for the School of Journalism at Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts and Sciences.
During his 2022-2023 Knight-Wallace Fellowship, he founded Pop Up Docs™, a pop-up style nonprofit storytelling studio that provides skill-building workshops for aspiring non-fiction filmmakers from traditionally underrepresented populations.
